Steps to Simplest Form:

1.    Write the percentage as a fraction with a denominator of 100 (e.g., 45% = 45/100).

2.     Find the Greatest Common Factor (GCF) of the numerator and the denominator.

3.     Divide both the numerator and denominator by the GCF to get the simplest form.

Example 1 (Basic): Express 60% as a fraction in simplest form.

  •   Step 1:

  • 60%=60100

  • Step 2: GCF of 60 and 100 is 20.

  • Answer: 35

Example 2 (Whole Number): Express 25% as a fraction in simplest form.

  • Step 1: 25%=25100

  • Step 2: GCF of 25 and 100 is 25.

  • Step 3: 25÷25100÷25=14

  • Answer: 14

Example 3 (With Decimals): Express 12.5% as a fraction in simplest form.

  • Step 1: 12.5%=12.5100

  • Step 2: Multiply numerator and denominator by 10 to remove the decimal: 1251000

  • Step 3: GCF of 125 and 1000 is 125.

  • Step 4: 125÷1251000÷125=18

  • Answer: 18

Example 4 (Over 100%): Express 150% as a fraction in simplest form.

  • Step 1: 150%=150100

  • Step 2: GCF of 150 and 100 is 50.
